Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Glimsi is a storytelling app for families with young children. It is made by Ionut Dan, an independent developer based in Romania ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the personal data described here. This policy explains what the app collects, why it collects it, and what it deliberately leaves out. It describes the app as it is actually built.

The short version

What stays on your iPhone

Deleting the app deletes all of this.

What is sent to our server

The app talks to our server, which runs on Cloudflare, only to write a new story and to check a subscription.

Story requests

When you ask for a new story, the app sends the story idea you typed or picked, the story world, the characters and their voice choices, the story language and, for a sequel, the end of the previous part. Our server passes this to our AI provider, which writes the story, and the story comes back to the app. Our server does not store the story request or the story. They exist on it only for the seconds it takes to write the story.

Please don't type a child's full name, address, school or other identifying details into a story idea.

Device check

Before an iPhone can ask for stories, it proves that it is running a genuine copy of Glimsi using Apple's App Attest. For each install we keep:

This identifier is not linked to you. It changes when the app is deleted and reinstalled, and we can't connect the two installs.

Subscriptions

Apple handles payment. We never see your card, name or Apple ID. The app sends the server Apple's signed record of the purchase so it can confirm the subscription is genuine. We keep only the resulting tier and expiry date, not the record itself.

Network data

Your IP address is used for a few seconds to stop request floods. It is not logged and is never stored with a device key or a story. We keep counts of errors, such as failed device checks, that contain no identifiers.

Downloads

Glimsi downloads its story ideas, tips and voice models from GitHub, as files are downloaded on any website. GitHub receives the usual request information, such as the IP address, under its own privacy statement. These downloads contain nothing about you.

Who else receives information

We do not sell or rent information, and we don't work with advertisers or data brokers.

AI-generated content

Stories are written by AI and narrated by AI voices. Stories pass safety checks before they reach the app. If one still seems wrong for a child, the report button in the player opens an email to us with the story, and removes it from your library. The email is sent only if you choose to send it.

How long we keep information

An install's device-check record, counters and subscription tier are deleted automatically after 180 days without use. Story requests are not kept. If you email us, we keep the email only for as long as we need it to help you.

Children

Glimsi is made for children aged about 3 to 8, used together with a parent or guardian. It has no ads, no chat, no social features and no profiles, and it doesn't ask for a child's name, age or contact details. Purchases and links that leave the app sit behind a grown-up check. A parent or guardian agrees once before the first AI story is written.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR in the EU, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use. Because Glimsi keeps nothing that identifies you, the simplest way to remove an install's data is to delete the app. The old record then expires on its own. For any request or question, email glimsi@icloud.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. If a change expands what we collect, we will describe it here in the same plain terms.
